... of 10 things I love in my life

It's been a while since a full-on post. I haven't been doing much in the way of photo-ing and thus have not much inspiration to update. But hey. I have an IDEA.

10 big things in my life right now">

01. NEW FLAT : So, I moved into my new place just about a month ago. It has many faults such as a mouse (called Vivaldi), dodgy hot water supply, a leaking roof, a very dark stairwell, and super noisy neighbours but I do rather love it. Living with Peter and Rachel is good fun and very different from living with the others last year but I know I prefer it. It's not a pretty girly-looking flat, so I'm compensating for that by making my room super-girly. :D More photos will follow, je suis certaine...

02. FRIENDS : Whether it's been very frustrating card games, lots of cake and lots of gossip or killer cocktails, crazy dancing and clubbing, there've been some good friend times going on over the summer! Finally saw my friends Kasia and Stephanie again after about a year and have been on some usual crazy nights out with Katie. Fun times!

03. BOY : Last time I saw him was in this very rainy London TWO MONTHS AGO (I mean it. It rained a lot. Like, A LOT) so it'll be good to see him again! We've talked a lot on the phone, but it's not quite the same... Still, only two weeks now!

04. L'ALCOOL : I may have got alcohol poisoning the other week. It sucked. And I won't be doing that again. Ooops. Never never never mix three different types of wine and vodka. In the same glass. No no no.

05. LACK OF MONEY : So. In some respects, it's kinda good that I didn't go to Russia... because I'm still completely broke after staying in the UK. Paying rent wasn't fun. Eating has been tricky. And due to my debit card getting nicked in MAY, there've been refund complications and I haven't seen a sign of my accommodation deposit from last year yet. Roll on Mr Student Loan!

06. BACK TO UNIVERSITY : I rather love English Language. And toootally concur with the above. I took Russian specially for the interesting characters... Well, ok, not really, but they add to the fun! Well. I say fun. I mean slight torture. Anyway. Starts back in a week and I'm kinda excited, geek that I am.

07. RAIIIN : There's been SO MUCH RAIN here. It's raining now. It's rained every day this week. And, as mentioned above, started raining in our flat even though the council supposedly already fixed our roof. Ah well. A couple complainy phonecalls later and they're now allegedly coming back to fix it. Yay!

08. EDINBURGH FESTIVAL : I'm terrified of living statues! Walking down the royal mile was a bit alarming. Eek. Loooads of great free shows on, some truly awful street theatre, some amazing fireworks and a generally good time. Sad it's over!

09. SLEEEEEPING ALL DAY : Yeahh. I'm lazy. But it's great. (And that was my bed in a hotel I stayed in down in England - there was even a very Narnia-style wardrobe in my room!)

10. VIDEO GAMES : Some form of Nintendo wars with Peter and Suzi, Wii Sports with Johannes and Robin - and one day I will actually beat Johannes at ping pong. It was a close call. :D

I challenge you all. On you go. With photos! That you've taken where possible. :)

... of cappuvino, sunburn and eastern european boys

Summertime has hit! Well, what will probably amount to the summer in Scotland. Although, we have actually been pretty lucky with weather so far. I'm even tanning. This is an achievement, really - I have about the fairest skin possible.

On the negative side, however - I should've begun my summer course in St Petersburg this morning. Unfortunately everything that COULD have gone wrong with my visa application WENT wrong with my visa application and thus I'm tied to the UK for yet another summer. Oh well. A visit to my boyfriend in London should brighten my mood a bit, with any luck.

Meantime, give me a glass of wine (or, a recent discovery in Lidl, Cappuvino. Wine that tastes sort of like coffee. Kind of sickly, but pretty good!) and keep the sunshine going. I'm going to wait till it cools down a bit in the south of the country before venturing there - 32 degrees celsius?! Helloooo sunburn!

... of russia, of rocking out and of shopping without the money

It's been a day of more stress - who knew trying to arrange a language course over the summer would be so DIFFICULT? Essentially, I'm going to St Petersburg through my university but have had about as much information as you would get out of a brick. Now I have three weeks to the day until I leave, and as yet, no visa, no flights, no accommodation and still very little idea of what I'm doing there. Oh boy.

Music festival (Rockness) coming up next weekend... and I really want to go shopping. Extreme shopping.

In other news, where's the good weather gone? We were in a heatwave last week, now it's back to typical Scotland. Well. It can only get better now, I guess. Although I've probably jinxed it now!

Hi / czesc / привет / salut

It's always the first post that's the hardest, isn't it?

Well, here's to introductions. I'm Masha. I'm 19 and I'm Scottish when asked, British by citizenship.

There's nothing that makes my day more than some chilling out in the park with my friends, preferably with a coffee in one hand, a cigarette in the other; followed by an evening with my boyfriend. I’m the kind of girl who loves random graffiti, mesmerising screensavers, squirrels, dancing around my room toute seule, randomly changing language mid sentence, toffee nut lattés … and ski-ing. But not that kind.

I can’t type the word ‘September’, I would rather sleep for an extra half hour than have a hot shower and I almost ALWAYS have a camera on me.

So bienvenue to my blog. Goodness knows what will go here - but enjoy.
